VALUED LODGE SECRETARY.

BRO. ALF RIPPON. SERVICES RECOGNISED. . At the meeting of the Loyal Master--ton Lodge, held last evening, a presentation was made to. the retiring finan■cial secretary, Bro. Alfred Rippon. Bra. R. Krahagen stated that it was with sincere regret that they "woie .-about to lose the services of such an efficient and courteous officer, after a period of 13 years’ loyal service. Bro. Rippon has been, largely responsible for t-lie present financial and social standring of the Masterton Lodge. Bro. Krahagen then handed to Bro. Nippon, as a small token of the appreciation of the Brothers and Sisters of •the Masterton Lodge, an IS carat gold watch, suitably inscribed, and also a .•china tea service for Mrs Rippon, and wished them both long life, health and posterity. Wd.G.M. Bro. A. Rowden, on behalf •of the Wellington'district, congratulated Bro. Rippon on the magnificent work lie had done for his Lodge, and stated that since his.-appointment 13 years ago -the membership had increased from about 1(10 to over 250, and the financial position had increased from £2SS3 to , nearly £sooo—a fine tribute to the excellent services of their retiring secretary. * P.G.M. Bro. Loasby, of Greytown, P.D.G.M. Bro. P. M. Smith, of Masterion, and F.G. Bro. C.-AV. Perry, also spoke in glowing terms of the work carried out by Bro Rippon, and they urged -that he now take higher honours in the ’■district) which ho would admirably fulfil. Correspondence and telegrams wore received from the Grand Secretary of the N.Z. Branch, and District Secretary of Wellington, voicing their appreciation of the services rendered by Bro. Rippon to the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows. t|Fo. Rippon, in responding, thanked "the Brothers and Sisters on behalf of Mrs Rippon and liiinself for the presentation, and stated that, although he was retiring from the secretaryship, he •would continue to take his usual keen interest in the Lodge.
