FIREMEN CONVICTED.
WILFUL .DISOBEDIENCE. (By Telegraph—Press-Association.) GREYMOUTH. Saturday. At the Magistrate’s Court this morning, A. Robinson, M. Davies and H. J. Roberts, firemen on the Waipori, were convicted on charges of wilful diso'bedience of the lawful command of the commander, in refusing to get up steam to take the vessel to sea. The refusal was based on the ground that there were no trimmers on board, and that the voyage to Sydney would therefore be too arduous. Mr. Meldrum. S.M., said the men, when signing on, knew the conditions. As they persisted in their refusal, he imposed a month’s imprisonment on each.
