OPPONENT TO STAND TRIAL. ADELAIDE, Friday. At the inquest on the death of John Purcell, the 'coroner found that death was due to meningitis, induced by a blow struck by William Harold Oliver. Oliver was committed for. trial on a charge of manslaughter— P.A. Oliver a prominent' inter-State .League football player, struck Purcell during a match at Bern, on June 20th, and Purcell died on the 22nd. TE AUTE BEAT WANGANUI. The annual Rugby match between the Wanganui and Te Auto College teams was played at Pukehou to-day in the worst possible conditions, the weather being bad and the field a quagmire. Te Aute won by 29 to 0. The Te Aute junior team beat the Wanganui College juniors by 15 to 6.
All the lower grade games of the Wairarapa Rugby Union were postponed to-day on account of the wet. Only the. senior games are being played.
