HARRIERS.

MASTERTON CLUB. 'A TRAINING RUN. ’ Theer was a good muster for the Masterton Harrier Club’s weekly run on Saturday last. Under the new rules of the club a training run of about six' miles, with two teams of sixteen men, was indulged in. • E. McEachen captained the A team, and L. Emery the B team. The trail, led by the veterans Hunter and Kitchener, started from the Park r across Adamsville, and over the railway line, following the line for two miles, then swerving sharply across the hills back to the golf links, and home via French street. Under the experienced 'leadership of the captains, the' run proved most enjoyable and highly instructive, nope of the runners bbing unduly distressed at the finish. This method is a great improvement on the ' past years’ continual strain of a straight-out race each Saturday. ' : • A handicap run-in of , two hundred yards resulted in another win for Me- • Eaehen, with M. 'O'Connor second and B. Peters third. ■ Next Saturday a sealed handicap race will be run from the Park; all runners must be on the mark at 2.30. An intimation has been received from, the Hutt Valley Harrier Club that they will be coming to Masterton on June 20th to contest the Saunders Cup.
