GLADSTONE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Gladstone , club was held at Carterton last night, ifr. A. E. Booth occupied the chair. There was a good attendance. Jle is a wing forward, and should -greatly strengthen the Star senior -/team. Speaking at the reception tendered Messrs Q. Donald and 1. Harvey, members of the All Black team, at Featherston, on Wednesday, Mr. E. McKenzie, .chairman, of tlio selection committee, -stated that he had to thank the team lor the manner in which it had stood cto the selectors. On leaving New Zealand the team knew that it. had been mdverselv criticised and this seemed to have inspired it to silence the critics. .He had stated the critics would be silenced 011 the playing fields in Ej'g.land, and this had proved correct. The Gladstone Club had a very successful season last year. They have successfully defended the Redmond Cup •for eight years in succession. .Jerseys were supplied last season to players free of charge. The chanfpionship 'ball was a huge success, and the. club’s wtbnnks are due to the ladies for their -help; also to the supporters of the club for their help. The receipts for the season were £-14 10s .Id, and expenditure £24 7s leaving a credit balance of £lO 8s 3d. The ball receipts were £SO J2s 6d, and expenditure £24 Ids 3d, leaving a credit of £25 fids 3d, making .-♦he club’s total credit £35 IDs dd. The t-Jnb is to be congratulated upon its healthy position, and Gladstone supP porters hope that this season will be as successful as the last one. Some good advice was proffurred by 3lr. E.
