WHOLESALE SHOOTING.
NEGRO RUNS AMOK. WOMAN DIES FROM FRIGHT. Press Association—Electric Ttlecraun—Copyrig (Received Fri lay, 10.55 e.m.) NEW YORK, Thursday. A telegram from Spencer, Tennessee, reports that a farm owned by Mr. Haston, Tennessee State Secretary, was the scene of wholesale shooting by a negro convict, who had been liberated on parole. The negro called Haston’s brother to the door and wounded him. Then he fired at several persons who were rushing to the scene, wounding tho secretary’s mother and three neighbours. The mother will probably die. The others were severely injured. Haston’s sister-in-law dropped dead from fright when the shooting began. The negro escaped and is being pursued by a sheriff’s posse. —Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
