RIFLE SHOOTING.

INTER-CLUB SHIELD MATCH. A match for possession of the interClub Shield took place on Saturday at Maurieeville, when the Te Wharau Club essayed to w-rest the trophy from the holders. A tricky north-wester, with changing light, made good shooting difficult, but in spite of the weather conditions some fair scores were registered. The Maurieeville Club were successful in retaining the Shield with a margin of 50 points. The visitors were entertained at lunch and afternoon tea, and a pleasant day was spent. Following are the scores: —

72(3 OPAKI CLUB. The Masterton-Opaki Club held their usual shoot on Saturday at the 500 and GOO yards ranges. The weather was against good shooting, and the members found it"difficult to put on decent scores. The conditions were ten shots at eaeli range, and the scores were as follow:—■

XI. *». XJCIL , yj Tlie shoot next Saturday will take the form of a field day, shooting to commence at 7.'!0 a.m. sharp. As this will be the concluding .shoot of the season it is important that a good muster of riflemen turn out, this being the last shoot to count in the Minton Memorial rose bowl agregate. As several shooters are in a position to win, next Saturday's shoot shiuld be interesting to all.
