MISHAP TO STEAMER.
DEFECTIVE STEERING GEAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, This Day. As the steamer Gale was entering port from Wellington on hour after high water, this morning, the steering gear became defective and the vessel sheered on to the north mole. It is expected that the vessel will be refloated at high water to-day. As far as is ascertainable, the steamer has not been damaged.
