BUILDING SOCIETY.

WORKMEN’S FRIEND No. 2. ANNUAL MEETING. The first annual general meeting of the Workmen’s Friend No. 2 Building Society was held in Masterton last evening, there being A. E. Winzenberg (in the chair), B. E. Jones, W. Kemp, F. J. Hunn, T. B. Braggins, T. Jenkins and W. H. Jackson. There was a good attendance of members. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the chairman' congratulated the society upon its financial position, a profit being shown on the first year’s working after all flotation expenses had been paid. He also intimated that there were still a few shares available, and suggested that the members should make this known to any, persons who might like to join the Society. He intimated that another appropriation would soon be made.

The annual report and balance-sheet wore adopted. Messrs W. 11. Jackson/ A. B. Wood and H. J. O’Leary, the retiring directors, were unanimously re-elected. Mr C. W. Perrin was elected shareholders’ auditor for the ensuing year.

At a special general meeting, Mr A. E. Winzenberg presiding, a resolution was moved by Mr E. Winhall, in accordance with notice of motion, that the rules be amended to provide that appropriations by sale be conducted by auction methods instead of by tender. An interesting discussion took place, and the resolution was carried without dissent. * *

At a special meeting of directors, Micro were present: —Messrs A. E.Winzenberg (chairman), and B. E. Jones, 'W. Kemp, F. J. Hunn, T. Braggins, T. Jenkins and W. 11. Jackson. An appropriation recently made was considered, and the directors being satisfied with the security offered,. decided that the davanee could safely be made.
