CRICKET.
Mr Claude Welch has presented two handsome gold medals to the Carlton Cricket Club, one for the best batting average in the team, and the other for the best bowling average.
Playing for West Christchurch seniors against St. Albans at Christchurch on Saturday last, D. E. Parton, formerly cf Masterton, scored 6 runs out of a total of 236, and took 5 wier&ets for 31 runs.
