HORRIBLE CONDITIONS.
LONDON, Tuesday
Mr. H. G. Wells has concluded a fort night’s visit to Russia at the Soviet Go vernment’s invitation.
He declares that the conditions in Russia are horrible, almost beyond description. Mr. Wells and Maxim Gorky worked out a project to establish a refugee colony in Russia for members of the learned professions, arts, and sciences,, who undertake not to participate in Russian affairs until an era of reconstruction has arrived.
Mr. Wells hopes to save the remainder of the “Intellige'ntia," and considers that Russia cannot be regenerated without their help.
