CONFERENCE AT WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELIJNGTRON, Monday. Tim Post, and Telegraph Officers Association Conference was continued to''a 'resolution .-was passed siutliorisiii" the alteration of the constitution"of the Association so that the Association can register , under the p.«visious of the Labour Disputes linest.- "* A* motion was carried, asking for full civil and political rights tor members of the P. and T Service A proposal to affiliate with tlu National Industrial Alliance ot LaboiU was not entertained. _ The Wellington section ot. the Association met to-night to receive the report of delegates concerning tltf_ deputation to Mr Massey an.L Mr Coates. The chairman said Mr-Massiy had practica'Hv promised what had been asked He read the following telegtam, which lie .said had been-sent out to all branches of the Association that (lav after an interview with the I nnic Minister: —‘‘The Prime Minister todav definitely committed the Government in the presence of a full contereuce to pro rata increases in salaries or wa"'es in svmpathy with the ascertained" cost of living increase. The question of consequential adjustment will be referred to a Board to be set up when each branch ot the public service will be dealt with on its own merits. Mr Massey further stated that if the service was not satisfied wit lx the salary schedules when produced, the delegates mav return and place the Service's objection to the same before him. The telegram* was read to the full conference before its despatch. The following motion was passed:— ‘‘That this meeting is /perfectly satisfied with the attitude of the conference, and congratulates them on the present, position.” The seconder of the motion said ho was afraid that Mr Massey would at-, tempt to side-step them again, but the chairman replied that that would not be so, because Mr Massey liad declared that he would give a reply to the Association’s demands before Parliament met.
