JOCKEY’S DISPUTE.

STATEMENT BY SIR GEORGE CLIFFORD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Replying to a statement made by M.r Sheath (secretary of the Jockeys’ Association), Sir George Clifford informed' him that they have resigned from the Association. As far as he knows, no individual jockeys were threatened with severe or anv punishment in this connection. He never said', as stated by Mr Sheath, that, he would not - recognise'or confer with, any Association of Jockeys; in fact he has already conferred,' but ail association so constituted as the New Zealand' Jockeys’ Association, and adopting its arbitrary methods,, can in Ill's opinion only be injurious to all concerned.
