RIFLE SHOOTING.

FARMERS ’ UNION SHIELD. On Monday, at the Papawai range, three Wairarapa teams competed for the New Zealand Farmers’ Union Shield, presented by the Colonial Ammunition Company- for competition throughout New Zealand. The day was fine, but with a light 5 o’clock wind, which was sufficiently tricky to make the shooters use all their knowledge to keep near the centre of the target. The conditions of the contest, seven shots each range, 300yds, 2nd class figure target, 500yds, Ist class figure target, 600yds, Bisley target. The following are the detailed scores:
