CAUCASUS CAMPAIGN.

SEIZURE OF BAKU,

(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Australian and H.Z. Cable Association. 1 V- DELHI, Tuesday.

The seizure of Baku proved a prelude to the renewal of Bolshevik activities in.'the Caspian area.

The object of the attack on Enzeli on May 18th was the recovery of some ships of the Russian Volunteer Army which made their way thither from Baku and had been interned.' The Soviet, commander demanded the ships, declaring he had no designs against the British, and promised to retire from Enzeli, having achieved his

purpose. In order to avoid a collision the British forces have withdrawn, pending negotiations between the British and the Soviet Commander.

All was quiet in Resht and Enzeli on May 20th, but further activity is reported in the direction of Astara, the Caspian Sea port on the Persian f j ontier, 100 miles north of Enzeli.
