COSY THEATRE. ‘ ' EXPERIMENTAL MARRIAGE. ’ ’ Constance Talmadgc has the chief role in “Experimental Marriage,” at the Cosy to-night. The heroine is a thoroughly modern young lady of lovable disposition who suffers from touches of over-developed enthusiasm, around which the story plays its comedy situations. When the hero, to whom she is engaged and with whom she soon makes a contract marriage, with an agreement that they will live together only from Saturday till Monday, is present, she forgets her mission as the chosen leader of the. Votes for Women movement. When he is absent, that enthusiasm is apt to fire her again. The “experimental marriage” is her idea, but he is a lawyer, has confidence in himself, and sees how, by giving in to her, he can get his own way. No women are allowed in his apartment house, but he gets permission for the week-end bride’s presence. The janitor helps the comedy, especially when her husband’s friend dares a woman friend to come in and cook a meal in' his apartment. The heroine finds that it will be necessary to make hei husband jealous. She doesn’t succeed, but thinks she has to such an extent that her happiness is in jeopardy. At the close .it looks as though they had decided to add from Tuesday till Friday to their week-ends together. The last chapter of “Stingaree” and the third episode of “The Lightning Raider” complete an excellent bill. PARAMOUNT THEATEE. “WOMAN AND WIFE.” Alice Brady’s second Select star series feature is 1 ‘ Woman and Wife, ’ ’ adapted from the cvcr-popular “.Jane Eyre,” by Charlotte Bronte. When the story opens Jane Eyre is living with her rich relatives, the Reeds, but the petulance of the Reed Boy causes her to be sent to an institution conducted by the heartless Broeklehurst. Jane’s sweetness effects some influence . over even him, however, and it is on Ins recommendation that she secures the po sition of governess to little Adeel, the daughter of Edward , Rochester. He had parted from his wife, Valerie, when, she became jnsane, and her mother had told him she. wos dead. Accordingly, when he falls in love with Jane, of whom little Adele has also become very fond, he proposes to her and is accepted. The announcement of their engagement is seen by Valerie’s brother Raoul; he brings her to Rochester’s apartment and blackmails him out of some money. Rochester, at his wits’ end, hides the demented girl* but. she breaks loose on the scheduled day of the wedding and the truth ot her identity is disclosed. Jane is ready to leave',' but, is persuaded to stay by her lover . In the meantime Valerie has escaped to the water, where she is drowned. Fate has finally been kind to the long-suffering Jane Eyre, and and all is "now clear-for her marriage to Rochester. A further chapter . of “Wolves of Kultur” is most exciting. A splendid three-reelcr L-Ko comedy will be seeii in “What a Life.”
