m£sterton resolutions. The following resolutions were passed at a meeting of the Mastertoii branch of the Post and Telegraph Association; held in Masterton last evening:—‘ ‘ That this section urges an immediate revision of the .classification list, as applied to the service, as the present scales of salaries are totally inadequate to meet the highly inflated cost of living. The basis of an adjustment should be the purchasing power of the sovereign in 1914 and now. Under this basis- the maximum for the seventh'class should be at least £.‘150 per annum, other grades to be likewise advanced in proportion. These salaries to be conditional on the rise or fall of - the cost of living index figures as supplied by the Government Statistician, '"the period of revision to be six monthly.” ‘‘That this branch suggests that -the projfljted increase in salaries be met by in the rates of the services to the public, some of which are at< present ridiculously low.” “That tfris section demands the immediate payment of the bonus as promised by Sir Joseph Ward, and that the ; finding "of the Chief Justice, Sir Robert ’ Stout, be made public.-' 5 “That this meeting urges the Central Executive Committee to immediately take a ballot of members as to whether they are $ -prepared to accept ‘the mere pittance’ ■offered as a war bonus, viz., £ls to -married officers, and £7 10s to single V officers.” “That this meeting of the Wairarapa branch of the N.Z.P.T.A. pledges its support to some recognition i by "wav of bonus or pay to men of the served without pay from •the P. and T. Department.'??
