JAPAN AND SIBERIA. TEMPORARY CESSATION OF OPERATIONS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) • NEW YORK, Monday. The Tokio correspondent of the Nc.w York Sun states that, according to an authoritative report, General Oi, Commander of the Japanese forces in Siberia, is being instructed to cease military operations pending the arrival in Siberia of a special commissioner to investigate the situation. It is understood that the Hara Cabinet, at a meeting on April 16th, decided on this course.
MORE TRICKERY. NEW YORK, Monday. The Chicago Tribune's Shanghai correspondent states that the Japanese troops in Northern Manchuria are occupying the Chinese Eastern railroad for the alleged purpose of protecting the,country against the Bolsheviks* JAPANESE CLASH WITH'cHINESE TOKIO, Monday. It. is reported that Japanese and Chinese troops are lighting along the railroad to the west of Harbin. General Semenoff is co-operating with the Japanese.in establishing an anti-Bolshevik front as far as Lake Baikal. :
