GLOOMY OUTLOOK
DROUGHT IN /AUSTRALIA. HEAVY LOSSES IN STOCK. Press Association—Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received Monday, 8.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Official reports show that the drought conditions continue in the western districts, tiie north-west plains and slopes, parts of the Kiverina Country, and the south-west slopes. The recent rains have been insufficient to relieve the situation. The crops have largely failed and herbage is scant and much hand-feeding is necessary. There have been heavy losses in stock. Ploughing is delayed. The outlook for the winter is gloomy unless there are good rains soon. In other districts, particularly those on the coast, the crops and other conditions generally are favourable.
