Allred French ,aged 55 years, a married man, residing at 64 Austin street, died in the Wellington hospital at 6.40 o’clock yesterday morning, following an operation to remove compression of the brain, resulting from a fractured skull, due to a fall off a tram in Courtenay Place bn Saturday evening. Deceased, who was employed by the Harbour Board in J shed, appears to have lost his balance, thus causing him to fall off the car. On being picked up he was apprehended on a charge of drunkenness, and while at the Taranaki street police station his condition became serious. He was sent to the hospital and admitted to that institution at 11.45 o ’clock on Saturday night. In addition to a fractured skull French appears to have been suffering from lung trouble. Besides a widow he leaves one grown-up daughter.
