MR HOLMS' CANDIDATURE.

Mr A. C." Holms, Democratic candidate, followed Mr Matheson in addressing the largest meeting held in Eketahuna during the present campaign, last night. Mr T. Parsons (Mayor) occupied the. chair. Mr Matheson especially thanked Mr Holms for having permitted Mm Vie use of the hall during the early part of the evening. On the initiative of Mr Holms, three hearty cheers were given. for Mr Matheson as he subsequently left the hall.

Mr Holms received an ovation v h>eh lasted for several minutes, and his address was listened to with evident appreciation by the bulk of the audience. A few Labour supporters were conspicuous by their frequent interjections, off 'which, however, the candidate scored. At the conclusion a very cordial veto of thanks, moved by Mr F. Pelling, who referred to. the candidate as the fit and proper person to represent the people iii Parliament, was carried. Early this morning Mr Holms addressed between 30 and 40 farmers at Nircaha, and briefly outlined the essenj tial features of his platform. On the motion of Mr J. Cooper he was enthusiastically thanked for his address. Mr Holms will address the electors of Masterton at the Post Office corner at So '(-'lock to-night.
