ROAD CONSTRUCTION.

CONFERENCE AT WOODVILLE

Cγ McFarline, of Woodville, occupied the chair Letters TCoro read from those who had given attention to the subject, and a general discussion ensued, the eoueen--BU.S of opinion being that concrete roads were, beyond the means of local bodies, and th"at somo cheaper method of roiui construction should be considered. It svas resolved: "That this meeting urges' th(» holding of a special conforence. of the and Muuicij.al AsKociations for the purpose of considering the best method* of making and financing roads, and that the local bodies represented request their Association to arrange the conference to bo held in Wellington during the early sitting of the. next Parliament." It'was also resolved that the present delegates refer the principle of the Victorian aysiem of joint State and local control "to Urn Counties' Association .
