THE YELLOW PERIL.
The vigorous attitude taken up by the Federal Premier of Australia in regard to Japanese control of Hun colonies in the Pacific is the right one. Australia and New-, Zealand were betrayed by Mr Lloyd George when he made a secret treaty with Japan over the Caroline and Marshall Islands. The cables today indicate plainly that Australia, South Africa and New Zealand are dissatisfied with the settlement and disposition of the German colonies. The Japanese will be a menace to Australia and New Zealand so long as they arc allowed to retain a footing in the neighbourhood of Australasia. The writing is already appearing on the wall. Australia and New Zealand must prepare to fight the yellow scum. America looks with suspicion on Japanese expansion; therefore, it is evident that the next war is going to be one in which many of the white races will take up arms against the Japanese. New Zealand and Australia cannot afford to take any chances with Japan. Australia, we are certain, intends to take none. She will probably bo found beforo long preparing to forcibly resist Japanese expansion in the Pacific. We hope to sco New Zealand range herself on the side of Australia in this matter. Canada, too, has bitter experience of the Japanese encroachment, so ''My Lady of the Snows'' will probably join hands with Australasia. South Africa, likewise, is alive to the danger of the "yellow peril"; therefore she, too, will side with ,
Australasia and Canada. What does all this seem to indicate? —simply a, Commonwealth of British colonies to 'fight tho Yellow Peril.
