Lois Weber .has accepted an offer to direct Anita Stewart in her second picture for First National Exhibitors rcicuit, In Old Kentucky. Miss Weber is to receive a salary of £700 a week, said to be the highest yet paid to a director, excepting D. W. Griffiths.

Louise Glaum, who joined the Paralto Company following her resignation as a Triangle actress, is now with Thos. 11. luce. Miss Glaums engagement with tho Paralta organisation terminated rather abruptly, and the star is suing the company for alleged non-pay-ment of salary.

Jack Livingstone aud Lilian West will appear opposite each other to-night at the Paramount in "Who is to Blame?" a stirring moral drama.

In The Sheriff, "Fatty" Arbucklo's latest comedy, the portly comedian humorously burlesques Douglas Fairbanks aud' William S. Hart in a series of stunts, one of which is the climbing of a steeple with the agility of Fairbanks, and in other scenes he parodies the two-gun-man "business" that Hart has found so useful in achieving popularity.

Mitchell Lewis, the actor whose screen characterisations have brought him prominently before the public, is now one of the stars appearing in Select Pictures. Mr Lewis is tho first male .star announced by the Select organisation, which has hitherto featured Alice Brady, Clara Kimball Young, Marion Davie? and the Talmadge sisters. The "Code of tbe Yukon" is mentioned as the first Lewis picture for release.

Charles Chaplin has engaged Carter de Haven to assist him in directing a new comedy for First National Exhibitors' Circuit. No announcement has been made; as to the nature of the story or its title, but it is explained that it will not touch on war topics. Prince Axel of Denmark, who visited the Chaplin studio about the time the comedy was begun, was given an opportunity to appear in it.

"The Hungry Heart," starring Pauline Frederick, and "The Trail of Yesterday," featuring Bert Lytell, will be the two good dramas screened at the Cosy to-night.

Beverly Payne is now with the Vitagraph Company, and is appearing with her husband, Francis X. Bushman.
