MASTERTON RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

The. annual meeting ot' members of the Masterton Racing (Jliib was held last night. Mr C. F. Vallance (President) occupied the chair, an<l there was a good attendance of members. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the ulutlrinan stated that the farm did not show the same profits as in previous years. This was due to the fact that wheat had been grown. Had any other root crop been cultivated the profits would have been larger. Considering everything, he thought the past year had been a satisfactory oue. The report and balance sheet was adopted. The election of stewards resulted as follows:—Messrs C.J. Bennett, D. B. Carrick, W. Cooper, Frank Dorset, Hugh Douglas, H. P. Harrison, F. A. Jensen, D. K. Logan, H. Neo, R. O. Smith, D. McLachlan, W. D. Watson, A. J. Welch and G. H. Yates. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr J. Macara, tho stewards were authorised to-expend up to £2600 in stakes. Tho stewards were given authority to dispose of surplus funds as they thought fit. According to. the rules of the Masterton Racing Club, it is mandatory to charge a membership entry i'ee sx> soon as tho Club possesses 300 financial members. This number has now been reached, and a motion and »iv. Aiiioniinont were moved in respect to the amount to be levied, but the matiur was eventually referred to the stewards. Judging by the tone of the discussion the entrance fee will probably be £2 2s. . Votes of thanks were accorded the scrutineers, acknowledged by Mr E. G. Eton, and the chairman. A mooting of stewards was subsequently held, when it was decided to adopt the programme as drawn up by the committee. The following officials were elected:—Judge, Mr W. H. Hartgill; handieapper, Mr J» E. Henrys • starter, Mr C. O'Connor; clerk of the course, Mr W .T. Pago.
