MURDER OF THE EX-CZAR

Nicholas was awakened at 5 # in the morning by a patrol comprising a noncom, and five men. He was told to dress, and was taken to a room where the Red Guards' decision was conimuniicated to him. He was allowed two hours to prepare for! the end. He received the tidings with great calmness and returned to his bedroom. He sank into a chair and. then asked for a priest, who was allowed to remain with the ex-Czar unattended.: The exCzar wrote several letters. An seeort came at 9 o'clock to take tho ex-Czar to the place of executioin. He tried to rise from the chair, but was unable to do so, and a soldier helped Mm downstairs. The ex-Czar once fell to the ground. As he was , unable to stand without support ho was put against a post. He raised Ms hands and . appeared to be about to speak when the rifles rang out, and .Nicholas fell dead.
