A BRITISHER FINED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HAMILTON, Tuesday. Before the Stipendiary Magistrate this morning, Ismael Wright St. Clair was charged with assaulting Jan Pavich ,an alien, and was - lined £2 and £1 costs. Tho evidence showed that the assault was entirely unprovoked. The Magistrate (Mr E. Rawson) commented as follows: "Some young fellows think it a fino thing to bait foreigners; but it is cowardly, as they are at a decided disadvantage in a foreign country. Poreigners are entitled to protection as long as they conduct themselves well. A recent commission paid a tribute to the law-abiding character of tho Dalmatians. Whatever your private feelings may be m regard to these men, that does not entitle you to assault, them. This sort of thing is hoodlumism w T hich will not be permitted, as it may lead to serious- consequences .
