HUNS' SWELLED HEAD.
There is in pcaco time no individual on earth more eaten up with conceit then the German. He poses as a super-man —the common or garden variety of other countries is something altogether too inferior and debased for the Hun to mix with. In times of war this conceit reaches a state of arrogance which words cannot adequately describe. We find in tho cable messages to-day concerning the comment of the German papers on President Wilson's speech that the Central Powers are suffering from swelled head, which has become greater because of the prospect of a. separate peace with Russia. The High Command, in its arrogance, intends to make another appeal to the God of Battles, believing that they will succeed in smashing the Allies. It is to be hoped that nothingwill deter the Huns from putting this intention into practice. The Allies will welcome the biggest offensive which the Jluiis can launch, knowing that a big offensive will mean the crippling of the German military machine. The. Allies are prepared for the German offensive, and they will take such a toll of the, Hun soldiers in the operations that humanity will be staggered and Germany's force smashed for ever.
