A sensational attempt at robbery occurred this morning. Two postal officials name. Hughes and McCartney Avere conveying £_000 to pay the Avorkmen at the new Post Ollice in .Spencer street, when three men. armed with revolvers, rushed up in a motor car and threw popper in the officials" faces. They struck McCartney several severe blows on the head and attempted to grab the bag of money. Workmen came on the scene and prevented the desperadoes carrying out their object. They clambered into the motor rar and escaped. M<-( 'ar. icy was taken to the hospital, though his injuries are not serious. There was another sensation at Abbotsford.
