TOWN HALL PICTURES.

"IN THE SHADOW OF DISGRACE."

Standing room only was the ordei* of things at the Town Hall Pictures last evening. A large crowd ot* neoulo (inished up the day's sport at the favourite picture theatre, and all present voted the star picture a good one. Tonight being the last night of this splendid programme another large attendance is expected. Among the best pictures is the Lubin star drama. "The Long Lane." John Black and Ray Meers are both in love with Ruth, daughter of old Henry Crier. En+l* favours John, but the old man objects.The two suitors have a fight, and Ray throws John over a cliff, and ho is supposed to be killed. He is, however, nursed back to life by some settlers in the valley. Old Crier on his deathbed makes Ruth promise to marry Ray, and John, having recovered, arrives back at the mountain homestead just after tho wedding. He does not enlighten the girl, but warns Ray that unless he makes a good husband he will havo him, John, to reckon with. John leaves the country, and after seven years returns to find Ray a drunkard, and Ruth and her little girl driven from home. John takes them to his cabin and hears tho pitiful story, and thcu goes in search of the cruel husband. The two men meet at the edge of the cliff, where, years before, John had been thrown over. Wiffles Puts Up for Parliament.—Tjt. is election time, and Wiffles 0 mother-in-law promises him a good round sum if he can win a. seat. He surmounts many difficulties, but on polling day he receives one vote! He manages to conceal tho figure from ma-in-law long enough to get the cash.
