CARLTON A v. CARLTON B,
The Saturday championship was advanced another stage on Saturday, when tho Carlton teams (A and R) concluded their match, Carlton B eventually winning by four wickets and 5 runs, after a most interesting game. Carlton A had a lead of 99 runs and 5 wickets to fall on the previous Saturday, and looked to have a really good chance of winning the match and tiicrchy winning the championship, but the B's, ably skippered by Tom Flaws, and the good all-round play of the team, pulled the match out of tho tire, and won the match by a good margin. The two teams are now level for the cup, having played five matches each, winning four and losing one. It was a popular win, and excitement was high among the spectators, and when Tom Flaws hit the winning hit a cheer rent the air. Carlton A were without the services of their captain, E. Welch, and the B's were only playing with a team of nine men. A. Styles and Ainslie bowled very well for Carlton B, and a good measure of the success was due to their bowling. Of the batsmen, F. Madsen deserves a special mood ci praise for his 23 not out. He came to light when the runs were wanted. R. Southgate was again unfortunate, being run out when his score was 28. A. Styles scored a nice 21. F. Hoar 15, T. Flaws (not out) 12, and W. Hoar 12, also batted well. Following aro the scores:— CARLTON A.—lst Innings 33 Second Innings. F. P.
