MEETING OF GENERAL COM -

MITTEE

The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Mastertou A. and P. Association was held in'the A. and P. Rooms on Saturday last, Mr 0. C. Cooper presiding. A letter -yvas received from the_ Wellington manager of the Shaw, Savill, 'and Albion Company, expressing regret that he was unable to vary the conditions under which the cup had been presented to tho Association, as the trophy had already been inscribed. The New Zealand Shipping Company wrote to a similar effect, stating further that it considered a challenge cup of greater -ralue than a trophy that could be won outright. Mr E. Hiley, General Manager of Eailways, advised the Association that a clerk would be in charge at the Solway station, and would supply all information as to trains, etc. —On the motion of Mr Q. Donald, it was decided that a request be made that a clerk bo stationed on the ground $pr the convenience of exhibitors and others.

The secretary of the Agricultural Council wrote, suggesting that the work done by Mr Edwin Hall be recognised by tho A. and P. Association on the occasion of his retirement from the secretaryship. —It was decided to contribute a sum not exceeding £5 towards the testimonial.

The report of a meeting of marshal stewards was read. The stewards recommended that the trotting in harness event be taken on the second day. —The report was adopted. The Luncheon Committee reported that it had engaged Mr .1. Scorrar to act as supervisor, as Mr Shout was unable to accept the position, owing to illness.

The Holiday and Carriage Committee reported that it had arranged for the running of special conveyances on show days at a charge of Gd per head each way.

A permanent protest committee, consisting of Messrs W. Perry, J. Strang, D. McGregor, and R. Gray, with the marshal steward of each class, was appointed.

It waa decided to invite the Prime Minister to be present at the show.

The committee appointed to report on the question of auctioneers' charges on tho sale or show stock, recommended that the auctioneers be charged a yard fee, the sum suggested being 6d per head for sheep and 2s Gd per head for cattle. —A motion for the adoption of the committee's report was rejected.
