ALLEGED SHEEP STEALING.
THE MOUNT NESSING- CASE

TIMARU, Saturday,
The hearing of OA'idcnce in the charge of sheep-stealing against Robert Guthrie, of Mount Nessing, Albury, has concluded, and counsel have been heard. Mr Justice Denniston sums up in the morning.
The accused and his sons, who assisted, denied altering the earmarks of the .sheep. Accused said he believed this had been done by someone to injure him, but he Avas advised not to name any one. An important point for the defence Avas that some of the faked earmark did not convert the marks to accused's marks.
The prosecution pointed out that thenneA r marks made on the sheep were nobody's except those of the man in possession, as no one- had such a mark registered.
The defence called witnesses to prove that there Avas ill-feeling on the part of tho complainant toAvards the accused, and this Avas replied to by similar evidence, on the other side.
