A Paris communique states that the Allies mined a trench westward of the Arras-Lille road, the occupants being either killed or captured. The Allies have also recovered a lost trench at Bagatelle, progressing beyond it.
The Germans claim to have repulsed a strong Russian attack eastward of Borjimoff, capturing guns aud over 6000 officers and men.
The Russians, with bayonet charges, captured two lines of trenches at Borjimoff. Progress is being male in the Carpathians. In the Wyszkoff Pass the Russians repulsed the enemy, inflicting heavy losses on them.
The German Admiralty has warned neutral countries that after February 18th every hostile merchant sh p in British seas, and in the English Channel, will be destroyed, regardless of the danger to their crews and passengers. Additional particulars concerning the Turkish attack on the Suez Canal state that the Turks made a resolute attempt to cross tile canal, hut the splendid defence of the British prevented them from doing so. When the British commenced to advance the Turks fled. The two New Zealanders who were wounded hailed from Nelson. The conduct of the New Zealand and Australian troops was all that could be desired.
