PERSONAL MATTERS.

Monsignor Cerritti, Papal delegate to fe&stralasia, arrives in Sydney by the on Monday. A. McKenzie, who for a great number of years has been a resident of Featherston, intends shortly to remove to the Feilding district. Bishop Grimes, of Christchurch, is in tho Lewisham Catholic Hospital, and his condition is such as to give rise to great anxiety. Mr A. D. Low, A.1.A.N.Z., has been reappointed directors' auditor to the Workmen's Friend Building Society of Masterton. ■'

Mr S. dimming, postmaster, has been Buddenly called away South owing to the serious illness o fa relative. Mr H. E. Moore will act as postmaster during Mr Gumming's absence. The death occurred this afternoon of Mrs, C. Winchester, a Avell-knovni and highly-respected resident of Masterton, after' an illness extending over a considerable period. The deceased, who iiad resided in Masterton since ISSS, • ( 58 years of age.

The death occurred at Palmerston NorMJi a few days ago of Mr Alfred McKajjhvho Avas well-known in the Wairarapa as a jockey, and who afterwards became a trainer on his OAvn account. He was connected Avith the stables of .Tames Cress and J. Pilbrow at Featherston for a considerable time. Ho secured many victories on Will Scarlet, Lady Agues, and other wellinown racers.

Mr Erie Strawsou Stubbs, Avho received his education in Canterbury, first iit" Cust and afterwards at the Boys' High School, recently Avon the Gee Fellowship at Liverpool University. The Fellowship is worth £100 per annum,

and it is stated has never been won previously except by a fully qualified medical man. Mr Stubbs has just completed his third year. Th death occurred in Auckland, yes-

jlerday, of Mrs R. M. Galloway, for years a resident of this district. The late Airs Galloway and her husband, who came to Masterton in the early days of tho toAvn, were Avell known and'highly esteemed by all the old settlers.
