MR COOK DECLINES TO SHOW HAND.

QUESTIONS FENCED. (Received Saturday, at 9.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Saturday. Questioned in the House, Mr 'Cook declined to show his hand. In reply to Mr Fisher's inquiry whether, in view of the vote against the Preference Prohibition Bill he intends to make a statement, he said he had no statement to make at present. Mr Cook fenced a number of questions regarding a possible dissolution .' Then he changed his tactics and showed a disposition to rush the Postal Voting Bill through. A meeting of the Ministerial Party discussed the situation. It is understood that it has been de-« cided to defer action until the Opposition has had an opportunity, if it desired, of rejecting the Postal Bill, which was adjourned on Wednesday. Meantime the Ministry is preparing a case for presentation to the GovernorGeneral. Appearances indicate that the bulk of the Labour members do not regard the Senate's rejection of non-preference with favour, though the militant section profess to be delighted.
