MAN DROWNED
MINISTER ABANDONS TOUR
GISBORNE, Fri day. Owing to the weather conditions, the Hon. W. 11. Heme's abandoned his East Coast tour, returning to Gisborne. Tuparoa reports state that two men, whose names are unknown, were crossing a Hooded stream, when one became exhausted and fell into the river, and was drowned. His mate reached land in an exhausted condition. He was unable to give an account of the fatality. The deceased is supposed to be a Swede.
