MAYOR AS MEDIATOR.
ARRESTED WHILST WORKING . FOR PEACE.
CAPETOWN, Sunday. The Mayor of Pretoria happened to be amongst the twenty persons arrested at the strike headquarters. . He was released on his own recognisances. . He had gone to the strike headquarters to discuss matters with a view to •mediation, and it. was while he was so engaged that the police arrived on the scene, and he was arrested with the others, martial law being no respecter of persons.
