COUNT ITO
Press Association—Electric Telerraph—Copyright (Received Thursday, at 9.35 a.m.) TOKIO, Wednseday. Tho death is announced of Count Ito.
(Count Yuko Ito, admiral of the Japanese fleet, was born in 1843. He was also high military councillor. In 1868 he entered the Japanese Navy, and became Lieutenant-Commander in 1872. He took part in the civil war of 1877, and fought at the battle of Yalu with all the combined squadrons under his command in 1894. For services rendered in the Russo-Japanese war ho was made a viscount. Subsequently he was promoted to admiral, and made a count.)
