THE WOOL MARKET.
The information contained in our jCablo news to-day that there has been an advance in prices in the London wool market will bo welcome news to farmers. This advance will assuredly be reflected in coming sales in New Zealand. In regard to the wool sales this season in the Dominion, prices have, no doubt, been affected by the cautious methods at present adopted by the Bradford trade. French and German operators have been fairly good buyers at Australian sales, for the reason that fine wools are in demand just now on the Continent. In England there has been a temporary slump in. the woollen trade, but judging by tho firmer market now in evidence at Home, there is a pleasing recovery. The loss of orders, through strikes in England, has also had a bad effget on the woollen trade and slackened the demand for wool. An important matter in connection with colonial wool sales this season is the activity of Continental buyers, and, now that there is an improvement in prices in London, English buyers will also bo desirous of purchasing, our wools; consequently there should be a much firmer tone noticeable
during the next sales in New Zealand.
