Sir Edward Carson and General Adair inspected several contingents of Ulster Covenanters, and also many nurses, motor corps, and despatch carriers .
A large building in Belfast, formerly used as a factory, has been converted into a barracks, where every night several hundred workers are being drilled into a disciplined force.
The citizen army is growing daily. Eegular parades are held in the open streets and on the drill ground. Many old soldiers liave volunteered as drill instructors.
The Pall Mall Gazette says that important communications have informallybeen exchanged between the Ministerial and Opposition leaders, and the prospects of an attempt at compromise have improved. '
Tho Westminster Gazette declares that it is the business of the Government to stand f firm against threats, whilst renewing its offer to discuss terms of settlement with all its opponents.
