COMPENSATION CASE.
SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGES,

NAPIBB, Monday. The Supreme Court to-day heard a ease in which Arthur Joseph Toohill claimed from Eobjohns, Hindmarsh and Co., a sum of £1000 as compensation for injuries received while employed in the erection of a three-storey building for the defendant at Port Ahuriri. Wirenetting had been put over the top story, and a manhole cut in it. Paper had been put over the manhole, and the plaintiff stepped on it, falling right through to the basement. He was awarded £524 12s 3d, less £69 15s already paid, and costs according to scale.
