The Minister for Mines and Education, Mr F. S. Malan, in a speech, referring to the forthcoming Compuls ory Kegistration of Trade Unions Bill, hinted that the federation of trades would not be permitted to intervene in industrial disputes.

Ho explained that individual trade unions would be represented, but would bo forbidden to introduce general political considerations into the adjustment of a dispute.

Mr Malan added that the Bill would provide for a secret ballot before declaring a strike.
