JEWELLERY STOLEN.

'By Telegraph. --Press Association.)

INVERCARGILL, Monday

Some time between Sunday and this morning the promises of Mr A. E. Arthur, jeweller, Tay street, were entered by burglars, who got away with £214 worth. The thieves effected an entrythrough the back part of the premises by boring out a portion of three doors and reaching through the aperture to unlock them. The thieves evidently had a knowledge of the locality, as they had to scale a brick wall to escape with their booty. They left little of any value.

Mr Arthur only recently purchased about £300 worth of stock, and this was what was drawn on by the burglar. Other jewellers in the town are rather perturbed over the affair, and to-day a number had the bolts and locks on their shops overhauled.
