IN THE AIR.
LABOUR AMALGAMATIONS.
AN IDEAL NEAR REALISATION.
Press Association— Electric Telegraph--Copyright, (Received Thursday, at 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Thursday. Amalgamation appears to be in the industrial'air at present. Besides an Inter-State Consolidation of Bush-workers, and the State Unification Labourers' Unions, a proposal is afoot to form an Inter-State federation of the building trade organisations. Clerks, shop assistants and storemen are also contemplating an amalgamation. The Labour paper, "Workers,"- announces that if the scheme is adopted by a conference of delegates and accepted by the Unions, the amalgamation will have a roll call of 100,000. This will mark another great advance, and the ideal Of one big union, embracing the workers of every calling, will have been brought appreciably near realisation.
