POVERTY BAY MEN GIVE NOTICE.

GISBORNE, Wednesday

The Poverty Bay slaughtermen have notified the local Trades and Labour Council to-night that they would cease work as from January 31st. The local managers of the freezing works will not state whether they have been notified or not, contenting themselves with saying that there is nothing fresh to report. Mr C. A. de Lautour, managing director of the Sheepfarmers' Company, went south by the Takapuna, together 'with Mr Warren, New Zealand secretary for Messrs Nelson Bros.
