At the inquiry Avhich is being held into the outrages on rubber-gatherers in Peru, Mr Gubbins, chairman of the Peruvian-Amazon Company, gave evidence that he had not heard of the atrocities until they Avere published in the ueAVspapers. He did uot think the Directors kneAV of all that Avas going on. He considered the Directors Avere not responsible for the outrages. After the disclosures it Avas the Penman Government's duty to punish the criminals.
