At Carterton yesterday, Mr Thomas Corlett, second son of Mr and Mrs Wm. Corlett, of Parkvale, was married to Miss Catherine Ann Gertrude Watson, of Surrey, England. The bridesmaids were Misses Connie and Doris Corlett. Mr Silas Rayner was best man, and Mr L. Corlett groomsman.

Mr Balfour Dawson, son of Mr Robert Dawson, a well-known farmer of the Masterton district, has just arrived back in much improved health, after an absence of nearly two years, which time he spent chiefly in England. While there he studied wireless telegraphy, having entered and qualified through a college specializing in this new profession, in London, in the middle of the year. The death occurred at Belvedere on Tuesday of Mr James Stevens, senior, at the age of 92 years. The deceased and his wife (a.ho predeceased him by some ten years) landed in Wellington by the sailing A'essel "Indian Queou," in 1857, having been resident in the Dominion 56 years. Upon his arrival in Wellington, he proceeded to the Hutt Valley, where he followed the pursuits of a farmer. He avus one of the sawyers who cut the timber for the first wharf built in Wellington. He was resident with his wife and family at the Hutt for 23 years, and leaving there took up the property at Belvedere, which is noAV occupied by his sous. The country round about Carterton and Belvedere in those days was covered with very heavy bush.
