IN THE STOKEHOLD.
NEW YORK, Tuesday. The leading stokers on the Titanic state that; the bulkhead doors were made of wood, and were opened once to admit Mr Shepherd, an engineer, who broke his leg through falling down a manhole. Four stokeholds remained dry, and work in tho en-gine-room was continued till 2 o'clock. Thirty-six fires were drawn before the end. One engineer shouted to the stokers, "You have done your best; get on deck." The last stoker, on looking back, saw the floor of tho engine-room break. A great hole appeared, and the engineer fell through the bottom of the vessel.
