CONTRADICTORY REPORTS
Received Tuesday, ].. 15 a.m. BRISBANE, Monday. The trams continued running till evening aud there was no trouble with the public, the trains receiving fair patronage. More special constables were sworn in to-day, including a number of prominent business men. A meeting of the Federated Employers Union, and other employers' organisations resolved that, as the Government had guaranteed the protection of ;ill trades, they, at the Government's request, would resume business, to tho extent of relieving those retailers supplying foodstuffs, and necessaries ot life, but only on tho understanding that the traders would not accept any of tho tonus or conditions of the Union's Committee. Thero {ire contradictory reports fioni northern towns, some stating that the waterside and other men have struck, aud others that they {ire still waiting and ready for a call out.
